New Game Mode "Conquest"

The focus of the gameplay was shifted from deathmatch-style dogfights to superiority on the battlefield that can be achieved through active interaction between the different classes. In the new Conquest mode, a team that attacks or defends key sectors on the map in a meaningful and coordinated way and successfully engages aircraft of all types, stands a better chance of winning. There is also room for personal skill, especially for the most skill-dependent aircraft classes like fighters: a skilled player can easily repel an attack on a sector or capture sectors patrolled by light aircraft.

Aircraft Types

The parameters of all aircraft types were reviewed so that each of the types effectively fulfils their type-specific missions and have their own distinctive strengths and weaknesses:

  • Fighters destroy soft airborne targets and ground target defense
  • Multirole Fighters are capable of assaulting ground targets and shooting down airborne targets
  • Heavy Fighters are excellent at making quick strikes on ground targets and intercepting enemy heavy aircraft
  • Attack Aircraft and Bombres quickly destroy ground targets in sectors by firing with large-caliber cannons and outboard weapons, or bombing from high-altitudes

Bombers are an absolutely new class that have been asked for by players for a long time. Compared to other classes, bombers have high survivability, altitude performance, powerful defensive armament, and a large payload of bombs. They drop bombs on enemy territories from high altitudes where only certain other types can intercept them. We think fans of measured tactical gameplay will appreciate them. You can pick a target, approach it, drop bombs on it, and prepare for and make the next bomb run. Bombers have a special camera mode called the bomb sight. In this mode, players can see targets below them, adjust the flight path with the mouse, and accurately drop their bombs.

Players flying aircraft equipped with rear guns can now switch to the manual rear gun control mode. Thanks to this mode, players can defend more efficiently against enemies on their tails by picking the most dangerous enemies or those with fewest HP as a target.

In-Game Goals and Mechanics

Maps are now set up in a way that will generate more diversity in battles. Each map contains key territories with their own functions and values. The least valuable territories earn fewer influence points.

  • Airfields can: be chosen as respawn points, repair damaged aircraft, and allow choosing other aircraft models for further battle
  • Command Centers regularly call in bombers to attack enemy territories
  • military bases launch rocket strikes on enemy territories
  • Mining Plants earn a large number of influence points

Each type of area is protected in a different way and requires a different amount of effort to be captured. Success requires team coordination and the consolidated efforts of different types of aircraft. Fighters will not be able to survive long under powerful AA gun fire, while attack aircraft will easily destroy any target on the ground, but will not be able to resist the attack by the defending AI aircraft.

Respawn

One of the main new features in the update is the ability to re-enter the same battle. There is now no need to disengage from a fight and try to save the last hit points after receiving heavy damage. Losing a plane does not mean the end of the battle any more. Players can respawn several times during each battle. The delay for this increases after every destruction. This means they can make their contribution to victory until the battle is over.

Thanks to respawn, players will be able to spend more time in battle and less on approaching the front line or waiting for another battle in the Hangar.

Active and efficient engagement in battles will earn players credits and experience, similar to the way they were earned in the previous versions. Prices for ammunition and consumables will not be increased, although they will improve player performance more significantly.

Graphics

Systematic physics and balance changes
All aircraft have an increased risk of fire.
For all aircraft, the influence of the missile and bomb suspension on the flight performance has been reduced. Empty suspensions no longer affect LTH.

Visibility system:
Added mechanics for unmasking the enemy when shooting. Now, when opening fire, the aircraft is guaranteed to be visible within a certain radius.
Guaranteed visibility when shooting works only in line-of-sight conditions (terrain and obstacles hide the aircraft).
The radius of guaranteed visibility of an aircraft when firing depends on its level and approximately corresponds to the range of effective fire at a given level.

The power increase for the 100 Octane Petrol, 120 Octane Petrol, and Refined Kerosene consumables has been reduced. The cost of equipment purchased by the player before the release of the update will be compensated.

Equipment
Fixed an error in the description of the effect of the equipment "Protection of gas tanks" - now it reads "+30% to the speed of extinguishing a fire."

Barrage of Fire - Awarded to a player who earns at least 10 points for destroying ground objects.
"Unstoppable" - awarded to a player who has won 3 or more victories in a row.
"Survival" - awarded to a player who survived 2 or more victorious battles.
As before, for each "tape" the number on the tape denotes the best streak achieved. The series is interrupted when the player's aircraft is destroyed in battle.
Changed the display of stage awards that have several degrees. Now the player is shown only the highest grade medal they have. For example, if he has a 3rd class Galland medal for getting 3 Ace medals and a 2nd class Galland medal for getting 30 Ace medals, only the 2nd class medal will be shown to him.

Automatic detection of graphics settings:
Improved algorithm for determining settings.
Now the detection of settings is performed automatically when the game is first launched (previously, "medium" graphics settings were set by default).
Automatic detection runs every time the computer configuration changes and may suggest changing the graphics settings depending on the test result (can be disabled in the settings).

Improvements and bug fixes
Changed and improved lighting on all game maps.
Improved explosion effects and added large explosions.
Some of the effects have been optimized to improve performance and fix visual bugs.
Optimization of cloud resources on the maps "Port", "Adriatic", "Fortress" was carried out.
The overlay scheme of "detail maps" on all maps has been redesigned in order to optimize and improve the quality of drawing maps.
Added a new 'optics pollution' post-effect for the 'Very High' and 'High' graphics quality settings.
Added camera effects when changing the speed of the aircraft (including when diving).
Fixed errors in camera effects during afterburner and high-altitude anti-aircraft guns.
Added the ability to disable camera effects in the game settings.
Changed the field of view (FOV) settings for the game camera. In the game settings, it is possible to return them to the state corresponding to version 1.2.
The rendering of aircraft and moving ground objects has been optimized.

Learning Mode
A new stage has been added to the final part of the Practice Shooting lesson, in which you need to destroy the maneuvering enemy.
The conditions for starting the Air Combat Training lesson have been changed: the player must have any aircraft of level IV or higher.
Removed the first stage in the Air Combat Training lesson.

Sound
Replaced engine overheating sound.
The sound of ground targets igniting has been replaced.
Replaced radio effect for voice messages.

Replays:
Implemented playback of the player's camera movements during the battle.
Added help window for replays with instructions on how to use them.
The behavior of the player after the end of playback has been changed, the possibilities of viewing control have been expanded.
Added the ability to rewind replays using the progress bar in the player panel.

Other changes and improvements:
The display of their rating and corresponding tooltips have been added to the characteristics of modules in the aircraft development tree.
Aircraft downing support messages are now broadcast to all players in combat.
Tooltips for multiple modules (e.g. multiple weapons) now correctly display the value of the module's stats. For guns and turrets, their firepower is displayed with the number of guns.

Please note that according to the results of the public test, some items and innovations in the final version of WoWp 1.3 may change.
